Floyd Earl Hawkins, Jr - Class Of 1962

SELMER, Tenn. - Services for Floyd Earl Hawkins Jr., 77, are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Selmer with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is from noon until the service.

Mr. Hawkins died peacefully at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022, in Selmer. He was born June 12, 1944, in Selmer, to the late Floyd Earl and Mary Frances Graham Hawkins Sr.

He lived in Selmer all his life. He graduated from Selmer High School in 1962, joined the Tennessee National Guard and served six years, being federalized twice during that time. Mr. Hawkins worked 37 years for the Town of Selmer. He started from the bottom, worked his way up and retired in 2009 as the public works director. In retirement, he worked part-time for the USPS. He enjoyed yard work, fishing, crossword puzzles, taking care of his pets, feeding his coons and traveling with his wife. He was a born-again Christian and member of Lakeview Baptist Church.

Survivors are the love of his life, his wife of 44 years, Mary Alice Johnson Hawkins; a daughter, Lisa Lambert (Brad); a son, Bryan Earl Hawkins Sr. (Dawn); a stepdaughter Liz Kiser; a stepson Randy Kiser; his grandchildren, Jonathan Goodrum (Autumn), Amanda Goodrum (Jimmy West), Joshua Goodrum, Zach Wilbanks (Jessie), Gracie Taylor (Marshall), Henry Joe Lambert, Dectony Thompson (TJ), Necole Ramey (Jake), Katlyn Hawkins, Lindsey Hawkins (Eric Merchant), Bryan Earl Hawkins Jr. and Sarah Hawkins; a son-in-law, Darrell Goodrum (Cassie Wallis); one sister, Jackie Wardlow (Phillip); two brothers, Jim Hawkins (Alice) and Bill Hawkins (Maudine); 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers are Bryan Earl Hawkins Jr., Keith Hawkins, Brad Lambert, Zach Wilbanks, Jonathan Goodrum and Joshua Goodrum.
